Hi friends. This week I have turned my thoughts to the work I need/want to do as 2020 winds down—things like tidying up website stuff, getting better about meal planning, creating space for a little more ease in each and every day.
Creating space may sound odd but I recently had the a-ha! moment that I hold space for people on a daily basis whether they are wellness clients or yoga clients or a friend in need of an ear. I hold space for people to move, to find rest, to pay attention to the hidden places in their bodies, to slow their minds down, to reconnect with who they are, to take a pause from their life. I think of it as creating a holy space. What I’m not good at is creating that holy space for myself.
Have you ever considered how you create space and ease in your life? My plan is to make the most of the quiet moments between activities that while short, can still be precious and restorative. Maybe this looks like you in your car in a parking lot or maybe standing at a sink of dirty dishes. It takes effort to stop and do nothing, even briefly. It takes effort to not pick up your phone to send a text or scroll through Instagram but you, my dear, are worth it. In these moments:
pause
breathe
expand
rest
Remember, there will never be a moment when everything is complete, when the to-do list is empty, and your house is perfectly clean but there is space for a moment to put it all down, to let it all go.
I’m not waiting for 2021 to begin. I’m starting to look for the pauses now, to practice devotion.
Shine on you beautiful soul,
